What we do

SUEZ works in partnership with Surrey County Council and other local organisations to manage the household waste that’s generated daily across the county.

Our overall objective is to reduce the amount of waste that’s sent to landfill, both benefiting the environment and reducing the tax bill for the county. We do this by working to boost re-use, recycling, composting and recovery.

We send waste that is left after recycling to energy recovery facilities in the UK and northern Europe where it is used as a fuel to generate electricity. We are currently building Surrey its own energy recovery facilities at the Eco Park, near Shepperton. When complete, the Eco Park will treat food waste from around the county and around a third of the county’s residual waste to generate energy – enough to power up to 8,000 homes.

We also operate 15 community recycling centres and five waste transfer and bulking facilities on behalf of Surrey County Council.
