SUEZ Builds Pathway to Healthier Lifestyles

Through its annual Revive Community Fund, delivered in partnership with Surrey County Council (SCC), SUEZ has awarded over £3,000 to the Woking based Lighthouse charity to help fund its Pathways Wellbeing Project.

The Pathways project, run by The Lighthouse charity, promotes healthier communities by encouraging lifestyle changes. Through this funding they have been able to offer weekly walks within the local community whilst providing workshops on wellbeing topics such as healthy eating, exercise and mental health. Participants also receive a monthly information card, providing guidance on how to create healthy meals. There are also plans for exercise classes such as chair yoga and walking football.

This project aims to improve emotional wellbeing as well as physical wellbeing by reducing social isolation. The Lighthouse charity supports anyone who finds themselves in need.

One of the beneficiaries said ‘It’s just so good to get out and moving. It helps my mental health and it’s so nice to do it together!’

Gareth Swain, Regional Manager, said ‘Pathways is a fantastic project run by The Lighthouse charity and well deserving of the funding. SUEZ has a real focus on the wellbeing of its people and I’m proud to be able to support a project that aligns so closely to our own values.’

SUEZ and Surrey County Council jointly operate five Revive re-use shops across Surrey, selling pre-owned items for the home, each year 10% of net profits from the Revive re-use shops, goes into the Community Revive fund and is donated to support local charities. The next round of funding is due to be announced in early summer if you have a local project and would like to apply for funding, please find more information at https://app.actionfunder.org/fund/710/about
