SUEZ helps over 300 students to find their voice

A partnership between SUEZ and St Bede’s School in Redhill has helped more than 300 students develop their confidence and communication skills – which are essential in both education and employment.

As part of the school’s Employability Day, SUEZ representatives, led by Grace Leech, Partnership & Community Engagement Coordinator, delivered a series of interactive workshops designed to help students build confidence, improve public speaking skills and prepare for interviews and life after school.

The workshop, Confident Communication, focused on helping students identify and communicate their strengths, skills and experiences in a professional and engaging way. Through practical exercises, students learned how to structure elevator pitches, communicate effectively, and adapt to a range of situations.

A key feature of the sessions saw students working in teams to create and deliver sales pitches for sustainable products, such as reusable water bottles and bamboo toothbrushes. The activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and presentation skills whilst also considering sustainability and responsibility.

Georgie Twigg, Careers Lead at St Bede’s School, said:

“The influx of feedback about how good the day was, and specifically the SUEZ session, has been amazing. At a time when Year 10 have been practicing their GCSE English speech and the skills involved, this couldn’t have come at a better time to help build their confidence.”

Grace Leech, Partnership & Community Engagement Coordinator, said:

“Developing confidence and communication skills at a young age can make a real difference to future education and employment opportunities. It was fantastic to be able to support our local communities and work with so many engaged students and help them recognise the strengths, skills, and experiences they already have. We’re delighted to have been able to support St Bede’s School with such a positive event.”
