SUEZ Supports Community at Shepperton Village Fair

Employees recently took part in the long-running Shepperton Village Fair, helping bring energy, creativity and practical support to one of Spelthorne Borough’s biggest community events.

First established in 1973, the Fair has grown into a major annual family occasion, attracting thousands of visitors. Held at Manor Park near the Thames, the event features a procession through the High Street, arena displays, fairground rides, stalls, competitions, a large marquee and the ever-popular Great Nauticalia Raft Race.

Despite costing more than £30,000 to organise each year, the Fair remains free to attend. Funding is generated through a combination of stallholder fees, sponsorship from local businesses and grant bodies, as well as donations from residents via raffles and on-site collection boxes.

This year, SUEZ hosted a double stall featuring a popular wire loop game. In a collaborative effort, half of the space was shared with local beekeepers, who sold honey and provided educational insights into the importance of bees, complete with live bees on display!

Our very own “Bin Heroes” got into action taking part in the Great Nauticalia Raft Race, which this year’s them was Local Heroes, inspired by the theme our “Bin Heroes” created their very own Binmobile.

Representing the team on the water were Zoot Lynch, Stefan Sasu, Kirk Austin and Adam Camara, with Rachel Collis bringing the concept to life through decorations and costumes.

Beth Wrenshall-Parker, Administration Manager said ‘ it is always a pleasure organising and taking part in the Shepperton show, as a local resident myself I know how much the community rally round each year to make this a real success. I’m proud to work for SUEZ who actively support its local communities.’

In addition to running the stall and participating in the race, colleagues supported the event by carrying out litter picks throughout the day. This effort contributed to keeping the site tidy and made the end-of-day clean-up more manageable.
