The Clink charity host a wellbeing breakfast at Surrey Eco Park

A collaboration with SUEZ and The Clink charity provided an opportunity for skills development in catering and hospitality as part of a rehabilitation programme.

The Clink is a national rehabilitation charity founded in 2009 that works to reduce reoffending by providing individuals either in prison or at risk of offending with training and qualifications in professional cookery and hospitality. They are one of the UKs leading rehabilitation and prevention charities and have received over 70 awards for their work.

The wellbeing breakfast was catered by individuals on day release from HMP Downview who are working towards their City and Guild NVQs.

The event was also an important opportunity for teams to check in and reconnect ahead of the preparations for the sites annual planned maintenance shutdown.

As well as catering for events The Clink operates a college, public restaurants, in-person training kitchens, horticultural programmes, and an artisan bakery all designed to provide pathways to employment. By equipping people with professional skills and work experience it increases the chances of securing employment upon release.

Jason Benfield, Plant Manager, said: “It was great to support such an important initiative that helps to develop skills and prepare people for the world of work. The charity provided fantastic food and were really professional.”
