Eco Park – Fault with the anaerobic digestion facility’s holding tank

We identified a fault with the anaerobic digestion facility’s holding tank at around 8pm yesterday (12 October 2024).

This resulted in a leak of food waste mixed with water, which was fully contained within the bund area designed for this purpose.

All of the safety systems kicked in and ensured this incident was well controlled and in compliance with our operational control procedures.

We are working to clean up the area as quickly as possible, we anticipate this will take one week. In the meantime, the facility continues to operate but bulk deliveries of food waste to the Eco Park are suspended.

We recognise that the event caused some noise, as alarms were triggered, and a localised odour has been detected in the immediate vicinity. We’d like to apologise for any disturbance and thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, the gasification facility and community recycling centre are unaffected and open as usual.
