Inspiring the next generation of waste superheroes in Camberley

Our team in Surrey recently had the privilege of visiting four Camberley Year 2 classes to deliver an interactive and engaging presentation on waste and recycling. This initiative aimed to complement the students’ curriculum-based learning, while introducing important new concepts like the waste hierarchy.

The sessions encouraged students to imagine themselves as “waste superheroes,” brainstorming creative ways to save the planet. Their inspiring ideas included recycling plastic to protect animals, washing out rubbish for better recycling, and starting food composts to reduce waste!

The team was delighted to receive positive feedback from teachers on the session’s impact:

“Great interactions with children. Grace and Jack really engaged with them. Thank you so much for consolidating their learning in a hands-on, practical way.”

“Really engaging presentation. The children loved it.”

“Engaging with the children, delivering the content, making sure the children were interested in the topic.”

Reflecting on her experience delivering the session, Partnership & Community Engagement Coordinator, Grace Leech, said: “It was amazing to see how passionate the students were about protecting the planet. Their enthusiasm and creative ideas were great to see.”

Partnership & Community Engagement Manager, Jack Barber, added: “Engaging with young minds and seeing their excitement about sustainability reminded us why this work is so important. It’s incredible to think these small steps could lead to big changes in the future.”
