Lifelong learning partnerships continue
SUEZ joined forces with the Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership (SLLP) to host employability workshops, giving young people an insight into green careers in the waste and resources sector.
The day-long session combined hands-on learning and practical guidance to help participants explore different careers within SUEZ and develop the skills and confidence for future employment.
The group began with an interactive tour of Epsom community recycling centre (CRC), where they learned how materials are managed, recycled and given a new life at the on-site Revive shops. Attendees met site staff who shared their own career journeys from operations and logistics to sustainability and customer engagement.
In the afternoon, the session moved to the Epsom Employment and Skills Hub, where participants took part in CV and interview workshops designed to strengthen their communication and job-seeking skills. Activities encouraged attendees to identify their strengths and understand how their skills could transfer into the growing world of green careers.
Reflecting on the experience, Bradley Finch, Youth Skills and Employment Advisor at SLLP, said: ‘The career insight day at the Epsom CRC was not only a brilliant opportunity for participants from Mole Valley Employment and Skills Hub to learn more about the sector, but also a chance for myself to see the wide range of opportunities available to the local community. Our partnership with SUEZ is a positive collaboration, and it’s been great to see how committed the team are in supporting people into meaningful work. We’ve already scheduled further visits, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on this relationship’
SUEZ’s Partnership and Community Engagement Coordinator, Grace Leech, added: “At SUEZ, we’re passionate about helping people discover rewarding careers that make a positive impact on the environment and their communities. Partnering with organisations like the Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership allows us to share insights into our industry and support young people as they take their first steps into the world of work.”
Following the success of these sessions, SUEZ and SLLP are looking to make these workshops regular activities across sites and employment hubs in Surrey to inspire more young people around green skills and build confidence for the future.
