Greener Libraries in Surrey
SUEZ, recently joined Hannah Woodcock, Surrey County Council’s Community Engagement Officer, at the Redhill Greener Libraries event that brought together a range of organisations and local groups, to highlight that simple actions people take to reduce waste, increase reuse and make more sustainable choices has a real impact on the environment.
Throughout the event, attendees learned more about Surrey’s waste and recycling services, as well as the benefits of the county’s network of Revive re-use shops. Conversations focused on how reusing items for longer, repairing products where possible and shopping second-hand can help reduce waste while saving money.
One of the highlights of the day was the popular ‘litter timeline’ activity, which challenged attendees to place items into the correct waste stream and discover how long different materials can take to break down if not disposed of correctly.
Grace Leech, Partnership and Community Engagement Coordinator, for SUEZ said:
“Community events like this are a great way to speak directly with residents about the positive impact small changes can make. Whether it’s borrowing, reusing, repairing or recycling, there are lots of ways people can help reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable Surrey.
“I’m excited to return to Redhill Library and support one of their upcoming coffee mornings, providing an informal opportunity for residents to ask questions and learn more about what happens to their waste.”
